Guiding principles
Innovation is a core value at Remote. We use AI tools daily to streamline processes, and we seek candidates who collaborate well with AI and embrace innovation. We value both technological advancement and human creativity. AI is a powerful workplace tool, including in hiring, but we believe in balancing AI use with genuine human skills and experience.
Our AI usage in recruitment at Remote is built on three core principles:
- Transparency: We’re open about our use of AI in hiring and expect the same from candidates.
- Authenticity: Use AI to support, not replace, your own experience and voice.
- Human oversight: AI assists but never replaces human judgment. A real Remoter makes all recruitment decisions.
As AI and related regulations evolve, we will continue to review our approach and adjust our use of AI to support responsible, fair, and compliant practices.
How Remote Uses AI in Recruitment
AI may assist with activities such as:
- Supporting talent acquisition by drafting or refining job descriptions, candidate communications, sourcing messages, and conducting sourcing research such as talent mapping and market insights.
- Assisting with candidate identification and application review by mapping skills to role requirements for human evaluation, generating interview plans and questions relevant to the role's required skills and attributes, and, for some roles, optionally conducting an AI-powered first-round screen (reviewed by a recruiter).
- Facilitating the interview process through coordination of logistics and communications, plus providing interviewer coaching tips.
- Reducing administrative burden by transcribing and summarizing interviews with candidate consent and analyzing and summarizing interview feedback across interviewers.
We don’t use AI to:
- Generate generic interview questions
- Assess candidate emotions.
- Review or grade candidate assessments.
- Make decisions that produce legal effects or similarly significantly affect candidates without meaningful human review.
- Make final hiring decisions or automatically reject candidates without human review.
