Our Vision

As a company founded on a remote model of community, we strive to build a diverse team for two reasons. First, we believe that more is more when it comes to diversity. This means that the more diverse we become, the more attractive we are to a wider range people who then want to seek out Remote for their next career move. Why? Because rather than simply adding a few new names and faces to represent diversity, we want to be a model for other companies by nurturing diversity to create a welcoming culture for all. Secondly, a diverse workforce has a greater quantity and quality of resources to draw from and, therefore, a greater ability to cultivate happy employees and collectively achieve our goals.

At Remote, diversity is not a quick slogan or quantifiable goal; it is a way of life. In this way, diversity is not simply a line item in our handbook. It is what makes our company culture unique and inviting to a broad and diverse workforce. We want everyone who comes to work at Remote to truly feel welcome and invited to bring their full selves. As a result, we think ambitiously and sustainably about diversity and continue to come up with ways to encourage it.

What is Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)?

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are organizational frameworks that seek to promote the fair treatment and full participation of all people, particularly groups who have historically been underrepresented or subject to discrimination based on identity or disability.

How We Promote DEI @ Remote

Belonging

👥 Remoter Culture Connections (RCCs)

Remote Culture Connection groups are Remoter-led and voluntary to join. Each group is focused on building community and fostering a sense of belonging at Remote. Other companies might call these Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). The benefit of Remote Culture Connections at Remote is to create awareness for the groups they represent, a safe place to share experiences, knowledge, ideas, and to continue to drive a deeper sense of belonging in our beautifully diverse and global environment.

These groups have the following core focus:

  1. Be a safe space to collaborate with folks from the same RCC. An inclusive community that is highly focused on uplifting and supporting everyone in the group.
  2. Provide an opportunity to represent their groups through allyship events, brainstorming goals, and sharing information with the greater Remote Team.
  3. Continue to use Remote’s Values within Belonging, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and through RCC initiatives. Work closely with the People Team to bring initiatives to life.
